Education beyond the classroom

Education beyond the classroom How often do we undermine the effect of all the activities that take place outside the realm of our own classroom. Sure, it can sometimes be very misleading and depart you in the wrong direction if there is not a good company or a cause. But the point about education is exactly that you learn it from books and it transcends to most realms that aren’t academic in nature. The point and basic foundation of education has always been to manufacture individual for the greater good of society, however it contradicts the point itself when the point of being academics is only limited to the classroom. The optimum use of a classroom education is when you prosper outside it’s realms. If we take examples of disciplines that transcend this experience are that can range from going out with your friends or doing internships. If in the instance you are with your friends and do not wear seatbelts on a road trip, it is indeed a gross failure of our education sys...

To a perpetual Wet Behind the ears Indian Student

To a perpetual Wet Behind the ears Indian Student Perfection isn’t a starting line, it isn’t a finishing line either. But what’s in the middle of the starting and finishing line is well, perfection. Unattainable as it is by our weak grasp; our reach is a deep dive into the privilege of excellence and hard work.  Revolutions are messy. Revolutions are unstable. Revolutions are unsustainable. And as noble or passionate the idea of revolution may seem, our education system will not survive on a revolution. What we need is evolution. Slow, gradual but powerful and sustainable. The flaws in our education system sit like knots, and if there is a resolution it is to untie these knots one by one. So what exactly can a student do? How can he, the most integral and central part of the education system take actions for the situation to change. It begins with taking responsibility away from the education system. The responsibility of shaping the future of it’s student, your fis...

Of Capitals and Premier Education

OF CAPITALS AND PREMIER EDUCATION The good thing about dreams is that they can be born to anyone. Aspirations, hopes and desires are a common companion to dreams and India is a nation that dreams. It dreams a lot indeed. The boisterous diversity of our nation is reflective in every corner of our country and especially in the metropolitan cities. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai among others are the cities of dreams; the whole of india in a way gravitates towards these cities for a better life, to struggle and work hard for their dream and a large fraction of these dreamers are students. The capital city of Delhi has much to bustle about. There is something about Delhi that cannot be contained in a definition, one has to experience it all together. It is civil and dirty at the same time, it is noble and it is indifferent too. Students of our great nation who reside outside the ‘it’ cities grow up with hopes and dreams in their eyes. The dream? Delhi. Over the recent years Delh...

A GENERATIONAL PROFESSIONAL DISCOURSE OF INDIA: CHANGING AVENUES WITH GROWING NEEDS.

A GENERATIONAL PROFESSIONAL DISCOURSE OF INDIA: CHANGING AVENUES WITH GROWING NEEDS. It is business studied most commonly in business and psychology called ‘The Maslow’s hierarchy of needs’. This need is studied as a triangle which studied what human beings true needs really are and where they are placed in terms of immediacy and after fulfillment of these immediate needs. The needs are places from bottom to top in the following order:- Survival Security Love Self Esteem Self Actualisation It is a common known fact that the most basic need of an individual is to first survive and then thrive onto other needs that lie above it.  I would like to take this principle and apply to a real demographic. The journey of India began with its independence in 1947 and it was the time of mass unrest. The luxury of doing business or having an employment was a luxury when people were literally hanging onto their lives. It was a time of unjustness and the only thing that peopl...

Emerging and established careers in Humanities

EMERGING AND ESTABLISHED CAREERS IN HUMANITIES In the federation of of the giant mammoths that strike every individual at a rather nascent stage in their lives is the career defining and equally irreverent choice of choosing the streams of academic subjects for their supposed academic pursuits. There is a plethora of integrity and surge of  choices umbrella under the streams of Commerce and Science but what has already been overlooked (although things are looking up) is a rather negligent stream of ‘Humanities’- an academic pursuit that has vague definitions right across the literature of disciplines. But let’s for the safety of subliminal context, assume that humanities largely relates to the study of society and individual through different perspectives. It is a very academic pursuit with a practical application yet again underestimated. Humanities, unlike science or commerce does not involve ‘creation’ but it definitely does involve ‘revelation’ through study. Over th...

Beyond the cirriculum

BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF CURRICULUM Education as a terminology is an abused term. The umbrella of the topics and expectations that this term covers and pandered to; most of it goes highly unnoticed. Normally one would confidently assume, that studying the books prescribed by NCERT would give the privilege of somebody being labelled as ‘educated’ but that barely covers the legitimate grounds and the true essence of the term. So what does it really mean to be educated? I think the perfect example of  someone being truly literate and possessing undiluted, pure knowledge is someone who doesn’t get stuck in the brackets of  curriculum and truly studies for the sake of betterment and not passing an exam. Education in the truest sense of term liberates a person and gives him a true knowledge of rights, responsibilities, duties and identity of being a citizen. It makes him more aware than just somebody equipped to write an exam and pass it with glorious scores. It enrich...
