Education beyond the classroom

Education beyond the classroom

How often do we undermine the effect of all the activities that take place outside the realm of our own classroom. Sure, it can sometimes be very misleading and depart you in the wrong direction if there is not a good company or a cause. But the point about education is exactly that you learn it from books and it transcends to most realms that aren’t academic in nature.

The point and basic foundation of education has always been to manufacture individual for the greater good of society, however it contradicts the point itself when the point of being academics is only limited to the classroom. The optimum use of a classroom education is when you prosper outside it’s realms.

If we take examples of disciplines that transcend this experience are that can range from going out with your friends or doing internships. If in the instance you are with your friends and do not wear seatbelts on a road trip, it is indeed a gross failure of our education system. The various academic degrees come to no fruition in an instance like this. Sure a meritable education is very admirable but a person with menial or basic education who exercises his basic duties as an individual to himself and society is a far more accomplished than the other individual.

The sad and unfortunate truth about our society in the times that we live in are that as we progress, we forget the basics of it’s functioning. Scale won’t matter unless the basic duties of an individual are in place and when the foundation is weak most buildings collapse, it is only the best option for us to be strong and firm on our foundational basics as students and individuals that we aim to strive better in life.

The rule of basics can be applied to any sphere in life, a successful person anywhere isn’t a single one shot wonder, but he’s gone through many stages in succession and has reached a certain appreciable level. That sort of thing only comes from iron discipline and being subjected to constant revision and connection to his roots.

And the best way to do that?

In the words of the great William Wordsworth; Come forth into the light of things, Let Nature be your teacher.
